Petra by Night: Is It Worth It? An Honest Review for 2026

Petra by Night in 2026 , is it worth 17 JD? An honest review of the candlelit walk through the Siq, with tips on when to go and where to sit.

Petra by Night runs on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings. You meet at the visitor centre at 20:30, walk the 1.2 km Siq lit by paper-bag candles, and sit on the sand in front of a candle-lit Treasury for about 45 minutes of Bedouin music and storytelling. The ticket is 17 JD per person and is NOT included in the Jordan Pass.

What's great about it

  • Walking the Siq in near-darkness, in silence, with candles flickering on the rock walls
  • Seeing the Treasury without the day crowds , even if there are 400 people sitting on the sand
  • Live Bedouin oud and flute that genuinely echo off the cliffs

What's not great

  • Phones go up the moment the lights change , be prepared
  • It's cold from November to March, bring a jacket
  • The walk back is long after a long day

Verdict

If it's your first time in Petra and the weather is good, yes , go. Sit on the second or third row, leave your phone in your pocket for the first ten minutes, and you'll remember it for years. If you're on a tight budget and have already seen the Treasury by day, skip it and spend the 17 JD on a long Bedouin dinner at the hostel instead.
